About Joanna
My name is Joanna, and I have been taking drawing lessons since I was 8. I have learned and mastered many drawing techniques such as watercolor painting, pencil drawings, pen and ink, oil pastel, marker art, and colored pencil art. I have also tutored math and science at Junior High Schools around me for quite a while, and have recently started teaching young kids art.

As an art tutor, I focus on helping each student discover their unique creative voice while building strong technical skills. My lessons balance freedom and structure — students learn solid art fundamentals (like shading, anatomy, perspective, and color theory) while exploring personal expression through drawing and painting projects they actually enjoy.
I teach in a hands-on, encouraging, and visual way, combining demonstrations, guided practice, and individualized feedback. Whether you’re working on realistic sketching, stylized characters, digital art, or portfolio preparation, I adapt lessons to your interests and pace so that learning stays motivating and fun.
Each session is personalized, but usually includes:
- Warm-up: Quick sketch or drawing exercise to loosen up and train observation skills.
- Technique Focus: Step-by-step practice on a skill (like blending, anatomy, or proportion).
- Creative Project: Apply the concept in your own piece, with guidance and live feedback.
- Review: Discuss progress, challenges, and set a goal or short exercise for next time.
My lessons are designed for beginners or hobbyists who want to learn drawing or painting from scratch, as well as intermediate students looking to refine their techniques or develop a personal style.
