About Emma
I worked as a physics and astronomy tutor at Brigham Young University for 3.5 years, which taught me many different learning principles and methods of explaining problems. I currently work as a Physics and Astronomy high school teacher where I better learned how to work with high school students. As well as teaching physics to them, often students will come in outside of class to get help with their math work, which I enjoy helping them with. Both during high school and college, I volunteered at elementary schools to help younger students (mostly with math). In addition to this, I have also done independent tutoring for elementary aged students.

As an elementary school student, I struggled with mathematics, which helped me learn many different methods to understanding and solving all sorts of problems. My main technique involves using analogies or examples that the student can relate to to help them better internalize what they are learning. I am very good at relating to student of all ages and helping them be excited to learn rather than just being forced into it! I am most experienced in helping college and high school aged students, but I am also very comfortable and experienced with helping 2-8th grade! The topics I specialize in are mathematics and science, but I am happy to branch out into other subjects.
