About Intisar
Hello, my name is Intisar, and I am a qualified science teacher with a PGCE and a 2:1 degree. I have experience teaching Biology, Chemistry and Physics across KS3 and GCSE, including supporting students with different abilities, confidence levels and learning needs.
My aim is to make science clear, manageable and less intimidating. I understand that students often struggle not because they are incapable, but because they may have gaps in their knowledge, misconceptions or difficulty applying what they know to exam questions.
I also teach students how to understand command words, structure longer answers and avoid common mistakes identified in examiner reports. Alongside improving subject knowledge, I focus on helping students become more confident and independent learners.

My lessons are tailored to each student’s individual needs, ability level and exam board. I begin with an introductory assessment to identify gaps in knowledge, areas of strength and any misconceptions that may be limiting progress. This allows me to create a focused learning plan rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach.
Research shows that regular retrieval practice and spaced repetition are important for long-term learning, so I revisit key topics throughout the programme to strengthen understanding and improve recall. Lessons include clear explanations, modelling, guided practice and independent exam-style questions.
I use Exampro and other exam-board-specific resources to provide questions that gradually increase in difficulty, ranging from foundational knowledge to more challenging application and evaluation tasks. I also use examiner reports and commentary to identify common mistakes made by students nationally. I explicitly teach students how to avoid these errors, interpret command words and structure their answers to meet mark-scheme requirements.
Lesson length and content can vary depending on the student’s needs, upcoming assessments and rate of progress. Regular assessment and feedback are used to monitor improvement and adapt future lessons.
