Graduate in Computer Science with teaching license in mathematics for grades 5-12. I have over 10 years in experience in teaching high school math as well. I know how to make math not scary!

Sumera really does care about your success, she will give above and beyond to make sure you succeed. Her “go get after it” attitude makes you very motivated to do better.

I would totally recommend Ms. Shakir for Math. She’s super helpful on Math. She’s really good at explaining out any problems on Math. Shes explains any problem perfectly.

I wasn’t the best at math during high school, to say the least. But in my sophomore year, I had the privilege of learning from Mrs. Sumera, and she completely changed the way I saw the subject. At the beginning of the year, I assumed her class would be just another boring, repetitive lesson in a subject that didn’t interest me. But by the end of the first week, I had already learned more about math—and how fun it could actually be when you truly understand it.

Mrs. Sumera didn’t just teach math. She taught us life skills that I still carry with me today. She became a role model for me—not just in the classroom, but in life. She got to know us beyond our grades or our struggles. She encouraged us, listened to us, and advocated for us.

Even now, five years after graduating with honors, she remains my favorite teacher and the model of what a great teacher, mother, and friend should be. Mrs. Sumera supported me through the ups and downs of high school, even after I moved on from her class. Never once did she show judgment or disappointment—only kindness, patience, and understanding.

That’s why I believe Mrs. Sumera is not just an excellent teacher, but a truly trustworthy and inspiring person.

She always went out of her way to make sure I understood the assignments and would always answer any of my questions, no matter how stupid I thought they were. She is a fantastic teacher and an amazing tutor! I would highly recommend her!

I first met Sumera my freshman year of high school. From the beginning of our relationship she always went above and beyond. Whether it was school related or not, she was always a shoulder to cry on, an ear to listen, and an amazing mentor. She made class fun while having a way of explaining things that the class would always understand the material. I also had the privilege of being a teachers aide for her and can say that so many students admire her and thrive under her instruction.
