About William
I have taught high school math for four years, been a teaching assistant at my college for four years, received my Masters in Mathematics Education from Johns Hopkins University, and tutored students in all levels of math since the beginning of high school.
I am confident that I can help you with your math. I love working with kids and I love helping students reach their goals. The hardest part about math is understanding that you need to struggle in order to do math well. It sounds counterintuitive, but it is true! If you are frustrated and stuck, that is good! That means you are learning. I can help you overcome those negative feelings and make the experience of solving challenging problems doable (and dare I say fun?!!).

My approach is to teach students confidence in their problem solving abilities. It is giving students a platform to talk and write about complex problems and make sense of it...even if it means not getting everything perfect. In math, I believe that the nitty gritty details can be learned later, but the motivation to tackle a big problem that requires deep thinking is the tough skill that students need to be successful thinkers.
With my expertise in teaching at a Title 1 school and receiving my Masters in Mathematics Education, I am confident that I can make students excited mathematicians who are eager to take on challenging problems in school and beyond.
