I like understanding what the student is trying to get from me. I also like to understand what kind of learning style my student has. For some students, they like more theoretical examples. Some like more practical examples. Once I have an understanding of what the student wants from me, I help my students set a goal and come up with a plan to achieve that goal. We make progress towards our goal and keep checking in periodically to see if our initial expectations are being met.
