My plan is to have my students understand the importance of reading and writing. How to find their ways of reading and have them analyze text and get an actual understanding of what an author is trying to say. With having read, then have them write a short story as to what they learned from the reading, what they most enjoyed and also what they dislike. Its important to get into reading from a young age, I can teach from kindergarten and up.
