About Tharyn
you'll find much of this in my introduction, but have been working professionally and as an assistant since my undergraduate years achieving multiple degrees in fine arts: painting drawing sculpture and design. I was gonna get my money's worth out of the very expensive art school. I was blessed to be around my father who was an art professor and the head of the sculpture department of San Francisco State University. It was through him I became friends and with many productive artists of his generation. I maintained my educational pursuits as a way of one never stops learning, and experiencing continual new media and technique, all the while sharpening my skill of my talents in the beginning of my life as an artist.

The Foundation & Philosophy
With multiple degrees in painting, design, and interdisciplinary study—and the privilege of continual departmental scholarships—my path has moved from master draftsman into the deep current of abstract expression. That ascension wasn’t a leap, but the result of decades of studio practice, learning alongside dozens of professional artists, and perhaps most importantly, teaching. My greatest reward has been finding the fine line between intuition and control: learning to trust the material, the visual basics of concern, consideration, and construction, while honoring the inner voice that knows more than technique alone. Now retired from college teaching, I want to extend that hard-won clarity to you.
