About Sean
I graduated from the Ohio State University in 2017 with a degree in Japanese Language and Literature and have spent 4 years working as a tax consultant and part-time English teacher in Tokyo, Japan. The majority of my work in Tokyo was carried out in Japanese, which demanded a working understanding of Japanese honorifics and business level conversation skills. My experience as an English teacher has helped me to understand how different students require different teaching methods and have allowed me to develop adaptability based on each student.
Much of my teaching style has been inspired by how I was taught at university. My studies have allowed me to pass the N1 level of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test and secure a position as a bilingual tax associate at a top global firm located inTokyo. I firmly believe in the doors that a second or third language can open for an individual and look forward to working with prospective Japanese students.

My lessons focus on Japanese conversation and getting students to a level where they can feel comfortable and confident speaking with native speakers.
-Each lesson will have a transcript with a common interaction for students to role-play. Beginners will start with simple greetings and vocabulary.
-Students interested in thewriting system will be introduced to a new set of characters each lesson with a supplemental online reading for practice.
-Classes are geared toward middle school ages and above(adults included). Current Japanese language students are welcome to bring in any lessons or homework material about which they may have questions.
A lesson with me will be heavily conversation focused. You will note that there will be less reliance on text books and memorization, and a stronger focus on internalizing the language through familiarization and implementation.
