About Laxaviera
As a graduate of Tuskegee University with a solid academic background in both animal science and neuroscience, I bring a deep understanding of STEM subjects and a passion for education to my tutoring sessions. My diverse experience—ranging from conducting research in university labs to working directly with healthcare and veterinary teams—has given me a unique perspective on the practical applications of math and science. This allows me to teach with clarity and purpose, making even the most challenging concepts easier to grasp.
I’ve always believed that every student has the potential to excel with the right support. My teaching approach is student-centered and adaptive, focusing on building both knowledge and confidence. I work closely with each student to identify their strengths and challenges, creating a personalized learning experience that encourages growth and resilience.
Professionalism is at the core of my tutoring practice. I am punctual, well-prepared, and committed to providing a positive, productive environment for learning. With my strong academic foundation and hands-on experience, I am fully equipped to help students not only improve their grades but also develop a deeper understanding and appreciation for math and science. My goal is to empower students to feel confident in their abilities and achieve academic success.

My teaching method is rooted in patience and adaptability, developed through my diverse academic journey in animal science and neuroscience. I focus on breaking down complex concepts into manageable, real-world examples that make learning accessible for each student. Drawing from my scientific background, I encourage critical thinking and problem-solving, ensuring students not only understand the "what" but also the "why" behind every lesson. I also use interactive methods such as visual aids and practice problems to reinforce learning.
A typical lesson starts with a brief review of previous material to reinforce retention, followed by a clear introduction of the new topic. I customize lessons based on each student’s needs, integrating practice questions throughout to assess understanding in real time. If it’s a math session, we might work through a few example problems together before I have the student attempt problems independently. For science, I incorporate discussions about real-world applications to make the subject engaging. Each session ends with a quick recap and a few tips for independent study or homework.
What distinguishes me as a tutor is my ability to connect different fields of study—such as my background in animal science and neuroscience—into relatable examples for students. This interdisciplinary approach helps make challenging subjects more engaging and relevant to their interests. Having experienced academic transitions myself, I also understand how to support students who may struggle with confidence or motivation. Additionally, my passion for both STEM and education fuels a tutoring style that’s both compassionate and motivational.
My lessons are geared toward middle and high school students who need support in math and science, whether they're looking for extra help with class assignments, preparing for exams, or simply want to improve their understanding of the subjects. I work with students at all proficiency levels, from those struggling with the basics to those aiming for more advanced understanding. My approach is particularly beneficial for students interested in pursuing STEM fields, as I aim to spark curiosity and a deeper love for the subjects.
