About Nica
I am Ronnie, and all through school and college, I found that teachers seemed to love overcomplicating topics, adding so much extra pressure to my already stressful exams. I am also neurodivergent, which means for me personally, listening to a teachers lesson that was catered for the general student never sunk in, I found it hard to listen, and I ended up re-learning the content in my spare time anyway. But I taught myself in ways I knew were helpful. I taught myself the different ways one retains information, and this was supported by my Psuchology studies at A-Level. My main method is plain and simple: Literally. I made the content from my school lessons simpler, more relatable and understandable to me and the real-life contexts that I knew and understood. I then applied this to my work and suddenly I was not incapable of learning, I was in fact smart. I want to make learning for others less daunting and all-around easier.

Lessons are minimum 1hr sessions. The lesson would start with some friendly conversation, and a casual opening question to break the ice, and to introduce the topic of the lesson. Then we would go into explaining a bit of the theory we’re learning, using examples. If the student has any homework then I would first ask what the students initial impression of the task is, and how they would approach it; then I would explain what the task is asking of them afterwards. It is important to keep the student engaged in what they are learning - so I would use real-life examples that they can easily understand to make the topic of the lesson or homework relatable and memorable. I believe the key to learning is to make the student certain that ‘it’s not that hard’. To instil the student in confidence that they are more than capable of understanding more things than they expected! If the student does not respond as well to one method of teaching, I am equipped with the knowledge of the four different learning types that can be explored. My lessons can be for anyone between the ages of 5-16
