About Emily
Do you need help with writing an English literature essay? Looking to brush up on English grammar and vocabulary? Need someone to help you practice conversational English? Or do you simply need a refresher on all the above? As someone who has studied languages and literature for many years and graduated with a degree in Language and Culture, I can most certainly help you with that. I understand what it is like to try and learn your first foreign language or pin down the relevant themes in a book that will earn you those top marks in an exam. Neither are easy and that is because they require practice but it also means that you have to find a smart way to achieve your learning objectives rather than simply staring at your textbooks hoping you will understand through exposure.
With language learning, practicing speaking in the target language is imperative to achieving fluency. If you think about how you learned your mother tongue, grammar, spelling, syntax and vocabulary were not at the forefront of your mind - you were simply speaking to communicate and understand. My English language lessons will always consist of 15 minutes per hour where we simply have a conversation and once I have a better grasp of your level, I will assign you presentations or specific topics to talk about which I will question you on. For the rest of the hour, I will aid you with any of your own queries about the English language or any homework you need help with.
If it is Literature that you require help with, I can either help you with your school work or we can go through literature together and I can help you write critically on these works as well as discuss the themes, characters and other relevant aspects of the books.
