About Duhaa
I aspire to work in education due to the ability to shape and mould the future of a child, and inspire children, aiding them in reaching their full potential.
My experience being chosen to tutor children in younger years in secondary school introduced me to the world of education, and inspired me continue in this role, which I then pursued through gaining a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) qualification. This role introduced
me to theories of teaching, lesson planning, and generally a more methodical approach, which I then utilised in my role as a tutor in Kumon. In this role, my duties consisted of teaching children, ranging from ages 4-16, in both a classroom environment, and one-to-one situations. In this position, I was able to utilise my theoretical knowledge with a more practical approach, adapting to the situations I faced. This role combined the wellbeing of a child with academic progression, and enabled me to develop my communication skills, organisational skills, and my ability to work under pressure. The most enjoyable aspect for me, and something that made me certain of my desire to continue working in this sector, was the ability to work with children from a variety of social backgrounds, religions, and ages. While challenging, I enjoy adapting my approach to each child based on their unique requirements.
