About Jake
I am a multi instrumentalist who has played in some of the top youth orchestras across the country. Having taken my Grade 5 theory at 12 years old, that was only the beginning of the knowledge id gain over the years, after top grades in both GCSE and A level music, I entered the teaching world, and have been at St Pauls Cathedral school as a Teaching Assistant and Graduate Music Assistant ever since.

Starting with an A level in music, as well as Grade 5 music theory, I have now been working in the music department at St Pauls Cathedral School for almost 3 years, where I have gained lots of experience in effective methodologies in teaching. For music theory, it can be very hard to grasp, so I believe little and often is the key. 30 minute lessons, multiple times a week, have proven to me to be most effective when teaching this topic. It is an incredible subject to learn as it opens up the music world to a student so they can understand music on a much deeper level, both as the listener and the composer. Because of this, the lessons are open to people of any age, however I do only teach up to Grade 5.
