About Kendall

I approach tutoring with the same seriousness and preparation that I bring to my own academic and clinical work. My goal is to help students feel capable, clear-headed, and in control of their coursework. Chemistry and biology can feel overwhelming, especially for pre-health students balancing multiple demanding classes and extracurriculars. I create a structured, focused environment where confusion is addressed directly and progress is measurable.

My background is grounded in rigorous science training and real-world application. As a graduated exercise science student, EMT, PCT, research assistant, academic mentor, and an upcoming sonography student, I understand both the theoretical depth of these subjects and how they are used in practice. I have worked with students across high school and undergraduate levels, including general chemistry, general biology, microbiology, and anatomy and physiology. I am comfortable guiding students through foundational concepts as well as higher-level problem solving.

Professionalism is central to how I work. I arrive prepared, maintain clear communication, and respect each student’s time and goals. Sessions are organized around defined objectives, and I provide structured follow-up so students know exactly what to practice between meetings. I adapt my explanations to different learning styles while maintaining high academic standards.

Most importantly, I help students build confidence through competence. Rather than relying on memorization alone, I teach students how to analyze problems, recognize patterns, and reason through unfamiliar questions. When students understand why something works, not just what to write on an exam, their confidence becomes steady and earned.

If you are looking for a tutor who is organized, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in your academic growth, I am committed to helping you succeed.

When I tutor, I think of it less as “delivering information” and more as building a shared map. Science can feel like a dense forest of terms and pathways and equations. My job is not to drag a student through it, but to hand them a compass and show them how to read the terrain for themselves.

My teaching method is conversational and Socratic. I ask a lot of questions, not to put students on the spot, but to see how they are thinking. If a student says, “I don’t get acid base chemistry,” I gently narrow that down. Is it equilibrium? Is it pKa? Is it just the vocabulary? Once I understand the friction point, we zoom in. I emphasize first principles. In chemistry, that means electron flow, energetics, and structure. In biology, that means structure function relationships, gradients, and evolutionary logic. I rely heavily on active recall, spaced repetition, and teaching back. If you can explain glycolysis to me in your own words without notes, even imperfectly, you are already winning.

A typical lesson starts with a short diagnostic conversation. What did you cover this week? What felt easy? What felt shaky? From there, we set a clear goal for the session. For example, “By the end of today, you will be able to predict the products of nucleophilic substitution reactions,” or “You will be able to trace blood flow through the heart and explain pressure changes.” We then review core concepts briefly, work through increasingly challenging practice problems together, and finally, you try some independently while narrating your thought process. I correct gently but precisely. We end with a summary, a short set of targeted practice questions, and a plan for the next session. I like students to leave with clarity, not a fog of half understood notes.

What sets me apart is that I teach you how to connect details to the bigger picture constantly. Instead of memorizing that increasing temperature increases reaction rate, we talk about molecular collisions and energy distributions. Instead of memorizing the steps of the Krebs cycle, we discuss why the cell extracts energy in that sequence. I also understand the mindset of pre-health students--as I was one myself before I got into echocardiography school! The pressure is real. Grades feel high stakes. I help students build confidence by showing them that confusion is not a verdict on intelligence. It is simply the starting point of mastery.

My lessons are designed for high school and undergraduate students in chemistry and biology courses, especially general chemistry, general biology, microbiology, anatomy and physiology, and related pre-health tracks. Many of my students are pre med, pre-PA, pre nursing, or pre-PT. I focus on helping students who want not just to survive their classes, but to truly understand the material so it supports them in future coursework and entrance exams.

If you work with me, you can expect sessions that are structured but flexible, rigorous but supportive. We build knowledge brick by brick until the wall stands on its own.
