Jonny Bruce had been my son’s trumpet teacher for the last two years. I started learning trumpet in November after more than two decades of not playing a wind instrument and I feel like I've made great progress under Jonny's tuition. As an online student, when I started I was a little worried that online tuition wouldn't be as effective as in-person, but I've realised now that at least in Jonny's case, my fears were completely unfounded.
His teaching style is highly dynamic and he'll respond to what you're doing well and steer the lesson towards it. He goes the extra mile by sending music recommendations to inspire you and also plays improvised interlude music if you have to step away for a moment.
Jonny is also very patient and supportive when things aren't going so well. He has a great ability to get you to think about something from another perspective that can quickly unlock progress.
On top of all this, Jonny is an exceptionally talented pro trumpeter too. When I saw him play live with one of his bands, 'Moscow Drug Club', he definitely got the most applause from the audience, and he certainly made an impression on me.
