About John
For much of my life I was exceedingly uninspired to learn or appreciate mathematics but after a few fortunate turns of events I was able to pursue a college degree and ended up falling in love with mathematics.
I understand learning new ideas can be an intimidating task, but I believe anyone is capable of grasping any topic if it is presented in an effective and relevant manner.
I think it is important to adjust my tutoring methods to various learning styles. Thus, I recognize that the success of the student is partially dependent on my ability to formulate a style that works with the individual I am tutoring.

I love explaining mathematical ideas to students of all levels. I think a great way to understand the concepts comes from the connection to real world applications whether that is in physics, accounting, or meteorology. I also do not believe that mathematics has to be a difficult and abstract topic. I whole heartedly think that the beauty of math can be appreciated through a lens of enjoyment instead of fear.
I enjoy tutoring anyone from kindergarteners to seniors in college.
My most in depth knowledge lies in the fields of calculus, algebra, and geometry.
A typical tutoring session with me will entail an overview of the topic, at least one relevant real world application of the material, and then step-by-step examples until the student is proficient at working through the problems on their own.
