I would build the confidence in students so they can ask questions. If they start asking questions about the lesson, half of the problem is solved. I encourage them to solve the problem by attempting it and will be there to help whenever needed. Unlimited time is required in the initial days, then a child is ready to adapt to that change and regains confidence.
