About Skylar
As a tutor who achieved a high Band 5 in the 2025 HSC for English Advanced, I have a clear and up-to-date understanding of what the course and exam truly require. Having recently completed the HSC myself, I’m familiar with the current syllabus, marking criteria, and expectations of examiners, meaning my notes and strategies are relevant, not outdated. I understand how responses are structured for success, from thesis development to paragraph cohesion and textual analysis, and I can clearly break these skills down for students.

Students are gradually trained to think and write the way HSC markers expect, with lessons structured around HSC style questions, marking criteria, and exemplar responses. This approach builds confidence not just in content knowledge, but in exam techniques of how to unpack questions, structure strong arguments, and write clearly under timed conditions. By practicing with targeted feedback and strategies that mirror the HSC, students develop the skills they need to perform at their best when it matters most.
