About MaeKayla
Hello! I'm a dedicated 6th-grade science teacher with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Florida. With a strong foundation in scientific principles and a passion for education, I strive to make science both accessible and engaging for all students. Over the years, I've developed and implemented interactive, project-based learning experiences that have significantly increased student engagement and understanding of scientific concepts. Collaboration is at the heart of my teaching philosophy. I've worked closely with fellow educators to design cross-disciplinary projects, enhancing students' critical thinking and teamwork skills. Beyond the classroom, I actively participate in professional development workshops to stay abreast of innovative teaching methodologies. My goal is to inspire students to explore the wonders of science and equip them with the skills they need to succeed academically and beyond.

I use the 5E instructional model, a typical lesson plan would first start with gauging what pieces of the instructional content the student is not understanding, via self-evaluation. We would then proceed with exploring the topic, explaining and elaborating, engaging with hands on practice and then re-evaluating our knowledge.
Lessons can be structured for students taking STEM classes ranging from 6th grade-introductory college level courses.
