About James
I have tutored high school and college students when I was in college. I have acted as a mentor to younger actuaries (mathematicians working in a business setting) for 30 years. I love helping people come at a problem from a different angle - on that makes sense based on their experiences. We all have unique learning styles, so tutoring gives you a chance to express your style, and gain a fuller comprehension of the coursework. I incorporate a lot of humor in my approach - I find it makes the material less intimidating.

My methodology is that you would send me the section of the textbook that you are covering, preferable pointing out areas that are particular difficult for you. That way we can spend the most time on the areas where you're having the most trouble. I will review it and build a lesson plan and some test questions to ensure you can apply the knowledge. I have lots of patience, but I also will nudge you along, because I want to see you succeed. My target audience is middle school, high school, and early college.
