About Rhona
I am passionate about my subject because I love plants and animals, they fascinate me. Whether it be their wacky survival techniques or their ability to overcome adversities, they always seem to have some way of surviving. I then transfer this into my teaching style that there is always a way to help you learn. I have a vast number of resources from when I have taught in various schools to help students to learn. I have been teaching in schools for 2 years and before that, tutoring friends and family to help out during university. Being able to help with someone until they understand the whole picture is something I pride myself on, and is a key aspect of my approach. Joining pieces of information from day to day life, whole school education and biology is how I make sure the student comprehends fully :)

I like to bring real life examples into my teaching to link prior knowledge in with course content. I feel this helps to retain information and makes it more relatable. I also like to use lots of tools such as videos, questions, mind maps and more to help solidify knowledge. I like to keep the lessons short and punchy especially if it is 1:1, usually between 30mins-1hr but depending on the student this can be flexible. I am a fully qualified teacher, registered with the GTCS and PVG scheme. I did my undergrad at SRUC as Applied Animal Biology then my PGDE at the University of Edinburgh. I can teach from S1 up to Higher Biology including Higher Human.
