About João
I began my musical studies in 2006, initially accompanying seresta groups around the city. Over the years I've had the opportunity to take part in various popular bands, choro groups, orchestras, etc. In 2011 I got closer to classical guitar, joining the UFMG School of Music in 2014. There I was also a guitar teacher at the UFMG Extension Course (CENEX), and I did a Master's degree in Music Performance.
I was a finalist in the XXIX Souza Lima Guitar Competition and winner of the BDMG Young Musician Award in 2017 and 2019. I've taken part in festivals across the country, such as the 9th and 10th Pelotas International Music Festival and the 9th International Guitar Festival, and I give recitals and workshops at various schools and conservatories in Minas Gerais.
Currently, as well as performing in solo concerts or with chamber groups, I teach guitar at the Nova Lima Municipal Music School. I also work on the study of Latin American guitar music, and whenever possible I take part in projects that work with other arts, taking advantage of the power of contact with different artistic expressions (such as literature, painting, dance and cinema).

My name is João, I'm a guitarist with a Master's Degree in Music and a Bachelor's Degree in Classical Guitar from the Federal University of Minas Gerais. It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I would like to invite you on a journey through the guitar, music and art, environments in which I dedicate my life to helping people of all ages and places.
First of all, I'd like you to think about the place of music in our daily lives. How it is able to dictate the "rhythm" of our encounters and experiences, isn't it? Furthermore, I would venture to say that the guitar connects us in a special way, such a versatile and engaging instrument.
So if you're interested in these encounters, experiences and connections, let's go on this journey together!
My classes are designed for beginners who are taking their first steps in music, as well as for intermediates, advanced players and professionals who want to improve their skills and explore new techniques. With a practical and fun approach, I'll guide you from the basics to playing your favorite songs and even composing your own melodies.
