About Olivia
I hold a Master’s degree in Music and have been teaching guitar for over ten years. My academic training gave me a deep understanding of performance and pedagogy, which allows me to explain concepts clearly and design lessons that are effective and engaging. During my teaching career, I have worked with a wide range of students, from complete beginners to advanced players refining their style. This experience has helped me create flexible methods that adapt to each learner’s needs, ensuring they make steady progress at a pace that feels comfortable. What drives me as a tutor is a genuine passion for music and for helping others grow through it. I believe that guitar study not only develops musical skills but also builds patience, creativity, and self-expression. My guitar lessons begin by building a solid foundation in technique. Students focus on posture, strumming patterns, and chord transitions to gain comfort with the instrument. These early skills ensure they can play songs accurately, while also preparing them to handle more challenging exercises in the future.
As learners progress, I emphasize scales, fingerstyle techniques, and improvisation. By combining practical exercises with music theory, students understand how melodies and harmonies work together. This approach gives them freedom to explore soloing, compose their own riffs, and play more expressively across a variety of musical styles.
Performance and musicianship are equally important in my lessons. Students practice timing, stage presence, and dynamics to develop confidence in playing for others. Whether preparing for recitals, exams, or personal enjoyment, I help them discover ways to connect with an audience through their music.
