About Lauren
I hold a Master’s degree in Music and have been teaching guitar for over seven years. My academic and performance background equips me to provide clear, structured lessons while nurturing creativity and musical expression for students at all levels. Over the years, I have taught beginners, intermediate, and advanced learners, adapting lessons to individual goals. Some focus on classical techniques, others on modern styles, and some aim for performance or exam preparation. This experience ensures lessons are personalized and effective for each student. What motivates me as a tutor is helping students discover their unique musical voice. I believe learning guitar develops discipline, creativity, and self-confidence. My teaching approach combines technical skill-building with inspiration, aiming to foster both musical growth and a lasting love for the instrument.

My guitar lessons start with the fundamentals, including proper hand positioning, chord transitions, and strumming techniques. Building a strong technical foundation allows students to play songs smoothly, develop finger strength and coordination, and gain the confidence necessary to tackle more complex musical pieces.
As students progress, I focus on scales, fingerstyle patterns, and improvisation. By blending music theory with practical exercises, learners develop a deeper understanding of melody, harmony, and rhythm. This encourages creative exploration, helping students craft their own riffs, solos, and arrangements while improving overall musical fluency.
Performance skills are a key part of my teaching. Students practice timing, dynamics, and stage presence, preparing them for recitals, exams, or informal performances. My approach emphasizes both technical precision and expressive playing, enabling learners to communicate emotion and artistry through their music.
