About Scout
I am a dedicated guitar tutor with 11 years of teaching experience and a deep passion for world music. I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Guitar Studies, which has shaped my understanding of both technique and musical expression. My teaching spans diverse styles, including Flamenco, Bossa Nova, Indian Classical Fusion, and African fingerstyle. I love introducing students to rhythmic diversity, helping them feel the pulse and groove of music from around the world. Alternate tunings are an exciting part of my lessons, opening doors to new sounds and creative possibilities. I encourage exploration of global musical heritage, blending tradition with personal expression. Every student receives lessons tailored to their goals, whether it’s mastering intricate fingerstyle patterns or developing improvisational skills. I emphasize listening, cultural context, and emotional connection to music. My approach balances technical precision with playful experimentation. Learning guitar should be joyful and inspiring, and I strive to make every session engaging. Together, we explore melodies, rhythms, and techniques from cultures across the globe. My teaching approach focuses on helping students of all levels grow their skills while developing a deep love for music. I emphasize slow practice methods to build precision, patience, and confidence in every note. Tone awareness is central in my lessons, helping students understand how to shape sound and express emotion through their playing.
I integrate mindfulness techniques, showing how music can calm the mind, enhance focus, and improve overall well-being. Breathing with rhythm is another key focus, connecting the body and mind to the flow of music. I guide students in exploring different guitar styles, including classical, jazz, rock, and acoustic, so they can find their own musical voice.
For students preparing for performances or recording projects, I provide structured guidance to help them shine and feel confident on stage or in the studio. I encourage creative exploration, improvisation, and personal expression, while ensuring solid technical foundations. Every lesson is tailored to the student’s goals, strengths, and pace.
My aim is not just to teach guitar, but to inspire passion, resilience, and artistic growth. Together, we work on mastering technique, building confidence, and enjoying the journey of music.
