About Dr Fawaz

I hold a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Warwick and bring over 25 years of rare, dual-perspective experience across academic research, university lecturing, and enterprise industry leadership.

Most tutors on Superprof fall into one of two categories: university students who know the theory but lack practical software engineering experience, or industry developers who struggle to teach academic mark schemes.

Having served as a Senior Lecturer as well as a Principal Architect and tech executive, I bridge that gap completely. I know precisely how examiners grade papers at GCSE, A-Level, and degree levels, while simultaneously knowing what global tech companies look for when hiring software engineers and cybersecurity specialists.

My background includes publishing over 45 peer-reviewed scientific papers, delivering more than 300 technical talks globally, and building complex real-time software systems. However, my teaching style is completely down-to-earth and zeroed in on your success. Instead of working through rigid, generic slideshows, I break down complex computer science concepts—from foundational Python scripts and data structures to distributed systems and security protocols—into
straightforward, intuitive steps.

About the lesson

I teach computer science by cutting out the fluff and getting straight to the point:

We learn by actually doing the work. Staring at slides or memorising textbook definitions won't make you a better developer or security analyst. Instead, every lesson is completely tailored to where you are right now—whether you're aiming for top grades in your GCSEs or A-Levels, fixing a broken Python script for a university module, or trying to land your first tech job.

Our sessions are interactive and keyboard-first. We write and debug Python code together in real-time, work through practical security scenarios to see how vulnerabilities function under the hood, and tackle real software projects. If you're studying for exams, we dissect past papers and mark schemes until you know exactly how to secure top marks. If you're job hunting, we focus on building a strong GitHub portfolio, polishing your CV, and running through realistic technical interview prep.
