About Sofiia
I have been teaching languages for almost three years now. I have taught Spanish, English and Finnish, to both children and adults. I have also had a few opportunities to learn from professionals myself. For instance, I attended a course for future language teachers in my university and a 6-day online residency dedicated to teaching languages to refugees and other people who have to urgently learn a new language due to relocation. But I should say: I never believe any of this is enough. I'm the kind of tutor who continuously looks to improve her approaches and make the learners' experiences as smooth and pleasant as possible. I'm amazed by the fact that everyone's journey is different, so my teaching methods and activities should be kept up to date! I'm really looking forward to meeting new learners and walk your journeys together with you, hand in hand.

I've been learning different foreign languages ever since I was a little girl, and this passion has been making me really happy. It is my life goal now to make language learning an accessible and enjoyable activity for anyone who finds themselves struggling. I mostly focus on students with some prior knowledge of the language , because they tend to be less motivated and more stressed by not knowing what to do next. I love living through this kind of mid-level crisis with them. But I'll be happy to give it a go if you're a complete beginner, too! In my lessons, I rarely use course books and prefer to use real-life materials as a basis. I really feel that it helps to overcome the gap between "comfortable classroom language" and "scary real-life language I'll never understand". I always aim at helping students find their own ways to interact with the content and explore the possibilities language learning provides. Might sound a little challenging of an approach, but I promise it's doable and I got your back here! :)
