About Will
Currently I am in my first year of studying Environmental Science at the University of Reading. Between A-levels and university I had a year out which I spent working, volunteering and travelling-including to East Africa and Central Asia. The volunteering work I did during my Gap Year was in a Tanzanian school involving teaching children a wide range of subjects which I found thoroughly enjoyable. Whilst at school I was keen in the classroom but also on the sports field and extra-curricular scene. My main extra-curricular activity was the cadets and I spent my final year in charge so was heavily involved in teaching. My efforts as an instructor led my section to second place at the Royal Marine Cadets' national competition. Having achieved strong GCSEs and gaining A*s in all three Sciences, Maths and Geography I studied Chemistry, Geography and Biology for A-level. Geography proved to be the subject I most enjoyed and hence I am now studying Environmental Science which also uses my other A-levels. My teaching technique encourages active learning as I encourage the pupil to constantly participate. Personally I learn best from practical learning and visual learning and this is something I work into what I do. I make no bones about it, I don't have much teaching experience but I have thoroughly enjoyed and been rewarded by what I do have.
