About Clare
Hi, my name is Clare! I'm a laboratory scientist based in New York City. I just finished my PhD in Chemical Biology at Harvard University, where I completed my dissertation work studying the role of essential cell wall synthesis enzymes in conferring antibiotic resistance in MRSA. During my PhD, I led discussion and laboratory sections, office hours and one-on-one mentoring sessions for undergraduate students in introductory biology and chemistry courses. I've really enjoyed learning biochemistry and molecular biology through my years in school and in the laboratory, and am excited to help high school and college students do the same!

My lessons will provide personalized support including example problems that I will walk through with students, explainer diagrams and visuals that I make myself, and additional resources to support different types of learners. I will design lessons based on the student's specific needs, catering to their current coursework and homework, or AP/GRE test preparation. I can additionally provide support with laboratory subjects and graduate school applications.
I have taught discussion and laboratory sections for college freshmen in introductory biology and chemistry at Harvard University, and received Certificates of Distinction in Teaching after each semester as a teaching fellow. I tutored high school and college biology students throughout my undergraduate career, and am currently employed as a part-time (virtual) AP Biology instructor. I received a 5 on the AP biology exam, a B.S. in Biochemistry from Georgetown University (2018), and a PhD in Chemical Biology from Harvard University (2025). In addition to my teaching experience, I have taken pedagogical seminars including “Mentoring: How to Advise and Be Advised,” “How Students Learn,” and “Fundamentals of Teaching STEM.”
