About Aliza
Hello, I'm Aliza, an experienced Head of English with over 17 years of teaching experience in outstanding schools. I hold a master's degree in Teaching and Learning from the University of Oxford and have worked as an examiner, giving me an in-depth understanding of what exam boards are looking for and how students can achieve their full potential.
I teach because I genuinely believe that English has the power to change lives. It develops confidence, communication, creativity, and critical thinking—skills that extend far beyond the classroom. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing a student grow in confidence, discover their voice, and achieve results they once thought were beyond their reach.
Every lesson I teach is personalized to the individual student. I identify their strengths and target areas, tailoring sessions to help them make meaningful progress. I create a supportive environment where students are encouraged to ask questions, discuss ideas, debate different viewpoints, and think critically. My goal is not only to help students succeed in their exams but to inspire a lifelong love of learning and literature.

I believe every learner is unique, so no two lessons are ever the same. My tutoring is tailored to each student's strengths, areas for development, and individual goals. Through careful assessment, I identify target areas and create personalized lessons that build confidence, deepen understanding, and accelerate progress which is why my students often exceed target grades by at least 2 or more grades.
My sessions go beyond preparing students for exams. I encourage curiosity, discussion, debate, and critical thinking, creating a supportive environment where students feel confident to question, analyze, and justify their ideas. Whether studying English Literature or Language, my aim is to develop independent, thoughtful learners who achieve outstanding results while gaining a genuine appreciation for the subject.
