About Peter
My goal as a tutor is not just to teach you just enough to let you pass that next exam. I work with my students so that they not only know the material that we are covering, but also so that they understand the meaning of the material, the background behind it, and how to apply it in the real world. This allows for my students to handle those really difficult problems where they have to not just recite what was learned, but use it in a new way. The greatest thing I hear from my students after tutoring them, is when they tell me that they now understand the material and that they will not need any more help, since that means that I have truly done my job and they are ready to move forward on their own.

As a tutor, I believe in building strong conceptual foundations while making learning an engaging and interactive experience. I break down complex Algebra and Geometry problems into simpler, manageable steps to help students grasp the logic behind each solution. Geometry, in particular, benefits from visual aids like diagrams and interactive tools to reinforce spatial understanding. Instead of simply providing answers, I guide students through problem-solving techniques so they can develop their analytical skills. I adjust my explanations depending on whether a student learns better through visuals, examples, practice problems, or discussions. If needed, I can explain concepts in both languages to ensure comprehension and comfort, especially for students who are more confident in Chinese. Lastly, I am an experienced Teacher assistant back in high school. I understand the struggle some students might face. Therefore, I am confident and happy to help whoever is in need. Currently, I am a 3rd year student at University of California, Irvine.
