My tutoring philosophy is built upon the core belief that understanding the "why" behind mathematical actions is the key to deep, long-term learning and eliminating confusion. Initially, I focus on diagnosing a student's conceptual understanding, identifying specific knowledge gaps before attempting problem-solving. If a student is struggling, I break down the concept into its fundamental parts, ensuring a strong foundation so they grasp all aspects of the idea before applying it. Once the concept is clear, we transition to active practice, working through multiple problems to solidify their ability to correctly and consistently apply that understanding, rather than just solving a singular example. This methodical approach ensures they understand why a particular concept or equation is used, enabling them to confidently transfer this knowledge to unfamiliar problems throughout the entire semester, prioritizing long-term memory over short-term memorization. I offer these services to students of any age enrolled in courses such as Algebra, Pre-Algebra, College Algebra, Trigonometry, Pre-calculus, and Statistics.
