About Sofia
My name is Sofia, I was born in Colombia and moved to the United States at the age of seven. I have always loved working with numbers and when I moved here I was exposed to so many more opportunities in math and engineering. I have also found the great opportunity to help others learn my native language. I have been a Spanish tutor during high school. I am now a mechanical engineering student hoping to later focus on aerospace engineering and one day work with NASA.

“In learning you will teach, and in teaching you will learn.” - Phil Collins I believe that every person has their own way of learning. I am patient and enthusiastic about teaching Spanish. I have experience teaching beginning and intermediate grammar, reading, and writing. As well as Spanish Pronunciation, Spanish Conversation, and Hispanic Culture. A typical lesson plan includes: - Addressing any questions the student may have to begin - Assessing a student’s academic needs (Strengths/Weaknesses) - Explaining/teaching any topics of struggle - Exercise challenging topics through conversation and writing exercises (fill-in-the-blank) - Reassessing academic struggles - Answering any remaining questions - Sharing notes/study guides from tutoring sessions so that students can look back and refresh at any time

Sofia is the perfect tutor for anyone seeking help in any Spanish class. Not only being a native speaker, but has the ability to give solid explanations that can improve one’s Spanish skills. As well, she works great with others. She has helped me in my Spanish 3 class and I wouldn’t have ended with an A+ if it weren’t for her. I’d one hundred percent recommend Sofia.
