About Sophia
I am a high school honors student, and I participate in many clubs (German, etc.) and sports (Cross country, etc.). I have recently applied to a cultural immersion exchange program through the U.S. State Department called Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES). People describe me as determined, funny, curious, and intelligent. So you can rest assured that I am competent enough to help despite only being in high school.

These lessons ideally are for kids in grades first through eighth. I start with an optional survey about what will be helpful to the student, such as, but not limited to, learning styles (ex. visual, kinesthetic, etc.), problem areas, and general information about the student. Depending on the age and grade the lesson plan may very, but a typical lesson is split into thirds. It would start with a short talk about what is going to happen during the day's lesson. We would spend the first third of the time doing review. In the second, we would delve into the lesson. We would then spend the last amount of time doing practice problems. If there is time left, it would be spent doing something chosen by the student for fun. I can be set apart as a tutor because of my age. While some people may argue that it is a deficit to my teaching skills, it can be used to connect and create a mode of understanding between myself and my student.
