I focus on building conceptual understanding first, then reinforcing it with step-by-step problem solving. Rather than just showing the solution, I guide students to discover the reasoning behind each step. I use multiple approaches—visual explanations, real-life applications, and practice problems—so that each student can find the method that clicks for them. I also emphasize common mistakes and “traps” so students can recognize and avoid them on their own. I focus on teaching all math topics from kindergarten all the way to Algebra II, as well as math SAT prep. I've taught SAT Math through platforms like Schoolhouse and worked with 18 learners.
Typical Lesson Plan:
-Quick Warm-Up (5 minutes): Review key concepts from the last session or go over any homework questions.
-Concept Focus (15–20 minutes): Introduce or review a topic, breaking it down into simple, digestible parts with examples.
-Guided Practice (20–25 minutes): Work through problems together, gradually shifting responsibility to the student.
-Independent Practice (10–15 minutes): Student works on problems independently while I observe and provide feedback.
-Wrap-Up (5 minutes): Summarize the key ideas, highlight takeaways, and set practice problems for reinforcement.
