About Stuart
I am 56 years old, married with three children. Earlier this year, I set up a tutoring business with my wife. Prior to that I was a secondary headteacher (two schools) and, as a maths specialist, I have also been head of maths. I have a doctorate, an honors degree in maths and a PGCE qualification.

I have been doing online tutoring for four years now and have found that it works at least as well as face-to-face working. My approach is very flexible - everyone is different. For some tutees, I’m teaching a full curriculum, for others, I’m helping them with work that they’re finding difficult at school. Some students have specific weaknesses that so can diagnose and address. Others need exam preparation. Most students do an hour lesson each week in term time and other lessons, as required, during breaks. Some have 90 minute lessons.
Most of my tutoring is for A level and GCSE Maths, but I also prepare students for the SAT Math exam, through an intensive programme.
My preferred approach uses Idroo, an interactive whiteboard (I’ve trialled several and this is the best) and Skype. I can set practice work, as required, and I’m also happy to be contacted to assist with problems that students have between sessions.

Details
I work on the basis that lessons are paid for after the lesson has taken place (ideally within 24 hours) and can be paid for on a lesson by lesson basis. I charge £40 for each A level lesson and £35 for GCSE, KS3 or KS2 lessons. I also tutor for USA Math SAT exams - at £50 per hour.
