About Lucy
1st class honours degree in history from Oxford University, winner of the Tassis Karamanos prize for best performance in history 3 A* grades in English, History and Philosophy at A-Level 11 A* grades at GCSE DBS checked I have been tutoring English and history for over 5 years, to students between the ages of 5 and 17. I am therefore used to adapting my approach to the needs of students of different ages and abilities and I have enjoyed seeing several of my students go on to achieve top grades at GCSE and A-level. I work alongside parents and schools in order to effectively target the goals of different students, helping not only to explain concepts but also to mark written work and improve exam technique and essay-writing skills, an area capable students often fall down on. I have also experienced first-hand the university application process, and I offer insider advice and individualised guidance on personal statements, interview technique and admissions tests. With over six years of experience tutoring students aged 5-17 in history, maths and English, I am able to adapt my approach to the needs of individual students. I help to further explain classroom concepts, improve essay writing skills and, when required, set and mark additional work. With this approach, I have helped many students achieve top grades at GCSE and A-level. I also offer guidance in university applications and preparation, including practice interviews, detailed personal statement feedback and Oxbridge exam advice. Lessons in person in London, or over webcam.
