About Peter
I am a highly experienced A-level and GCSE Physics teacher with 16 years of classroom experience across several different exam boards, including several years as Head of Physics.
As a subject leader I have been responsible for teaching and planning the whole A-level course, preparing students for examination series and overseeing practical endorsements.
This means I understand not only what the student need to know, but how the whole course fits together, where students commonly struggle and what they need to do to turn their understanding into success.

I specialise in helping GCSE and A-level students make sense of Physics. I ask the questions and select the activities that will help build a student's understanding first and foremost.
Physics can become frustrating when a student has gaps in their understanding. Often they can remember equations and definitions but aren't completely sure why they work or how to apply them to unfamiliar questions. My aim is to change that.
I take a calm, friendly and highly personalised approach. We start by identifying exactly where a student is confident and where the difficulties lie, then work with them to build a secure understanding of the underlying Physics.
Lessons combine clear explanations with carefully chosen questions so that students learn not only the content but how to apply it. As their understanding improves, we can then focus on exam technique: interpreting questions, selecting the correct Physics, setting out answers clearly and understanding exactly what examiners are looking for.
I can support students who are:
• finding Physics difficult and beginning to lose confidence
• doing well but aiming for a higher grade
• preparing for GCSE or A-level examinations
• struggling with particular topics or mathematical aspects of Physics
• looking for regular support throughout their course
I believe the most useful tuition doesn't just help a student answer questions. It gives them the confidence and understanding to tackle future questions independently.
