About Vicky
I am Swarnayan, trained in Hindustani Classical Vocal for over 25 years in the Bishnupur Gharana under the guidance of Pt. Pranay Pathak, starting at the tender age of 4 years. My musical understanding is additionally enriched by ongoing Bansuri training in the Maihar Gharana tradition under the disciples of Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia — Pt. Santosh Sant, Sameer Rao, and Rupak Kulkarni. This dual training has given me a deep appreciation for gayaki ang, raga architecture, and nuanced musical expression. I also hold senior diplomas with distinction and have performed at major cultural venues and Inter-IIT platforms. I teach with seriousness, respect for lineage, and a calm, supportive attitude towards every student.

Master Hindustani Classical Vocal — Systematic Training with Swarnayan
These classes are designed for students who wish to study Hindustani classical vocal as a serious art form, combining rigorous technique with deep musical understanding. Guided by the teachings of my gurus [Pt. Pranay Pathak (Bishnupur Gharana)] and [Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia (Maihar Gharana)], students develop a strong foundation and a refined, expressive voice.
What you will learn:
️Precision in swara (note) intonation and pitch control
️️Voice culture, breath support, and tone refinement for a resonant, flexible voice
️️Mastery of meend, gamak, kan, and other essential ornamentations
️️Understanding raga grammar, chalan, and mood (bhaav) to express the raga authentically
️️Development of alaap and taan patterns, exploring improvisation with confidence
️️Tala awareness and foundational layakari (rhythmic intricacies)
️️Efficient, structured riyaaz techniques to progress steadily
️️Cultivating active listening, musical thinking, and immersive raga experience beyond rote memorisation
Students are encouraged to internalise music as a living, evolving form, while building discipline, intuition, and creativity in performance.
