About Joanna
I have over 20 years of experience in a variety of capacities in K-12 education, 17 of which were as a high school history teacher in both public and private schools. I have a BA in History from Lafayette College (PA) and two Master's degrees, one in Secondary Education and Curriculum from Fairfield University (CT) and the other in Legislative Affairs from George Washington University. I have written curriculum and provided professional development for history teachers around the country, and I have taught the following courses in my career: APUSH, AP World, AP US Govt. & Politics, World History (ancient and modern, and Honors level), American/US History, Constitutional Law, American Government, Global Issues, and Asian Studies.

I offer a one-on-one tutoring method that caters to each student's specific learning style. Depending on the course and whether the student is having trouble with content or concepts (or both!), I will tailor each lesson to address the area where the gaps exist and help each student succeed. I also try to ensure that students will get practice with various activities and question types.
