About Simon
I am an Arts and Humanities academic tutor and published writer, with a specialty in History, Art History and English Literature. I enjoy helping students learn how to study, plan and structure academic work, and ideally fall back in love with their chosen field of study. I aim to do this by helping students learn how to better understand the aim of their assignment, how to research their chosen topic, how to understand what information is relevant to their area of study and then, how to structure and execute their work successfully.

Looking for help with an essay, thesis, or any other academic work? Or help with a Leaving Cert Research Project? (Grinds) I can guide both second level and third level students through the process of understanding and comprehending your assignment in question, figuring out how to and where to research your topic(s), and finally planning and executing your chosen work. For Irish Leaving Certificate students, I can help you learn how to efficiently study for your Leaving Certificate Exam and feel prepared for any topic that may arise and also how to successfully complete the Research Project. I specialise in Irish History, 20th Century European History and the Cold War. Referencing & Avoiding Plagiarism: For third level students, referencing is daunting at first, but incredibly simple once you learn a few basic tricks and rules! I have experience in using many different referencing systems (Harvard, Chicago, IHS, and more…) I aim to break down your referencing system for you, to help you achieve accuracy and consistency throughout your writing. Transcripts can be transcribed for a separate and fair fee. (Word Count dependent).

Simon taught me Leaving Cert Grinds during 6th year, on a weekly basis. I really struggled with my subject choice of history, as I was never really very interested in the subject. After just a few short weeks of working weekly with Simon, he has managed to finally get me interested!! We worked together on my History project and I secured the result I was looking for! Simon made the Leaving Cert History exam much easier to understand than they do in school. He worked from the perspective of the examiner throughout which made the work much easier!
Simon is a budding historian- I do think he’ll write a book some day, as he has an easy way with words. He helped me a lot with understanding the different time periods of history and forming key points for my essays. I struggled with turning bulletpoints into essay format and he helped a lot with this. Thankfully after just 6 sessions I’m feeling like a real student! Cheers Simon !
