About Yvette
I am a graduate of Trinity College of Music (now Trinity Laban) where I studied classical voice and opera. Since then I have broadened my knowledge by taking my Estill qualification which was the beginning of my fascination with voice science. Since then I have continued my studies gaining an MA in vocal pedagogy in 2024. The focus of my MA was how the language that is used in the voice studio can affect the student. Used positively, language can lower the power dynamic between student and practitioner reducing anxiety and enhancing learner engagement. I have been teaching and singing professionally for nearly 30 years and I learn something new from every student. For me, lessons are an experimental and collaborative process.

Holistic training takes into consideration the whole person. Your history, personality, emotions and your goals. I aim to optimise your connection to your voice by using language that is most meaningful to you, all the while explaining how your instrument works from scientific evidence. Thought processes are examined to determine if they are serving you or whether by modifying them, a better result can be reached. This is not just performance training but self-discovery and personal development. By understanding every process from thought to muscular engagement and finally vocalisation, the voice becomes free and we become our most emotionally communicative.
