About Skye
I am an honors Sociology and Media Studies graduate who is pursuing a career in education and academics. Various volunteer and work experiences have developed my capacity and interest in teaching this subject, such as being a volunteer course notetaker and tutor for my university. Working as a child-teen caretaker and camp counselor has also expanded my abilities methods in teaching various skills and communication. Working as an assistant archivist and researcher at a library has further developed my literacy skills and confidence in my ability to apply them. Ultimately, I have a true passion for English literacy, media, and helping others to grow, learn and expand their skills.

Lessons are equally balanced between catering and evolving to the student's specific learning styles and needs while still challenging them enough to elicit progress. I believe in exploring beyond traditional education styles to best meet the student's specific preferences, strengths and needs intuitively. This is confidently applicable to a range of levels from elementary school through beginner university. This also applies to both studying English literature as well as practical skills such as cover letter writing, essay writing, etc. Part of the lesson plan involves focusing on what the student does know/understand instead of what they don't know, and evolving from there (i.e., vocabulary, proper grammar, spelling, and contextual use/meaning of certain words). Lessons also involve my skill for curation, personalization, and recommendations, meaning recommending and providing certain materials and texts that may be useful or help the student better understand the topic and its related materials.
