About Tom
I am a university student studying Economics and Applied Finance at Macquarie University, with a strong academic background in English and a clear focus on helping students improve their results.
I have experience tutoring high school students, including Year 11 and 12, where I have helped significantly improve performance — for example, increasing essay marks from mid-range results to consistently high scores. My approach focuses on identifying exactly where students lose marks and building systems to recover them.
I aim to create a focused and supportive learning environment where students feel confident, understand what is expected of them, and are able to consistently improve. My tutoring is built around one goal: improving marks as efficiently as possible in English.
Rather than covering large amounts of content, I focus on identifying exactly where students are losing marks and implementing clear systems to fix those issues. Each lesson is structured — we diagnose weaknesses, build a repeatable approach, and apply it immediately through targeted practice.
In English, this involves refining essay structure, strengthening analysis, and ensuring responses directly meet marking criteria. The focus is on turning descriptive or inconsistent writing into clear, high-scoring responses.
I have experience helping students significantly improve their results by developing a more structured and exam-ready approach to English.
Lessons are typically 60 minutes and are suited to students in Years 10–12 aiming to improve performance and confidence.
