About Michael
I am a Humanities student at the University of Texas, Austin pursuing a double major in Plan II Honors and Latin American Studies with a minor in Gender and Sexuality Studies. Much of my education takes me into engaging heavily with literature and a heavy amount of writing. I recently graduated from high school and was often peer mentor to a variety of students at my high school focused primarily in the histories and English. As for other students I've had, I currently have two students I'm tutoring, both in English, and am mentoring a variety of students in high school in the Austin area (no specific subjects here, just general mentorship).

I only give lessons to High School and Middle School students. As for my approach to tutoring, My teaching philosophy is derived from my mentorship style as my mind is much more student-centered than expectation centered. With that in mind, I have a deep care for each of my students and want to create a friendly environment while teaching. My goal is both to teach but also to develop an earnest relationship so that both the student and myself can feel comfortable with the learning environment. My style has proven very effective not just for educational development, but has also provided students with someone to reach out to without fear of judgement.
