About Kiyan
Hi, I’m Kiyan. I’m currently studying A Levels in Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry, and I enjoy helping students understand difficult topics in a clear, logical way. I want to teach because I know how frustrating GCSE subjects can feel when things don’t click. My approach to tutoring is structured, exam-focused, and personalised. I aim not just to help students understand content, but to help them think like examiners, build confidence, and develop efficient revision habits. Teaching Techniques & Methodology • Diagnostic first: I begin by identifying gaps in understanding, exam technique, or confidence. • Concept-first teaching: I explain topics from first principles to ensure students genuinely understand why things work, not just how to memorise them. • Active recall & questioning: Students are encouraged to explain ideas back to me, improving retention and clarity. • Exam technique focus: We regularly practise GCSE-style questions, with emphasis on: • Command words • Mark schemes • Common mistakes • Step-by-step problem solving (especially for Maths & Sciences): I model clear, logical methods students can replicate in exams. • Targeted homework: Short, focused tasks between sessions to reinforce learning without overload. I adapt my teaching style depending on the student—some need confidence-building, others need stretch and challenge. Typical Lesson Length • Lessons range from 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on: • Student age • Subject difficulty • Attention span • Most students benefit most from 45–60 minute sessions, allowing time for teaching, practice, and feedback.
