About Saurabh
I am passionate about education and believe sciences and math need to be taught holistically as each subject relies heavily on the others for a better and complete understanding.
IIT Kanpur, India was ranked #7 in the world when I studied there and only 1 in 1000 applicants make it through the entrance exam.
I am patient (I am currently teaching my 10th grader, and she now enjoys both the subjects, from hating them just 6 months ago) and take pains to think of real-world situations to explain concepts.
I also design experiments with objects available around the house so that the student can see concepts at work.
I am fluent in English and consider it my mother tongue.

I start by assessing the current level of preparedness of the student. I teach by stressing First Principles as the three key ingredients for success in Math is
1. A strong conceptual understanding
2. Recognition of patterns
3. Speed
For Physics, these are:
1. Understanding of concepts is even more important as topics are interrelated
2. A thorough grasp of convention, units of measurement and terms and their definition ( as these can be counter-intuitive)
3. Ability to draw and read diagrams.
I also focus on correlating different topics with the topic under discussion to build context and make the subject relevant to real life.
I will not move ahead if the student is still unsure of their understanding. I assess this by routinely asking them to explain back to me what they've understood.
I like my students to talk to me when they're attempting to solve problems so that I can understand their thought process. Each student has their own style of learning and I am adaptive and flexible in my approach.
