About Ruby Michelle
My name is Ruby and I have a bachelor’s degree in Fine Art from California State University, Sacramento and am currently working on my certificate in Children’s Book Illustration at UC San Diego.
I have over 10 years of experience teaching art to students of all ages and over 7 years of industry experience as an illustrator, graphic designer and content creator. I specialize in both digital illustrations as well as traditional painting in all mediums including Watercolor, Gouache, Acrylic and Oil Paint. I just completed an art residency and exhibition in Japan and am actively teaching workshops throughout California while I continue to partner with and create ambassador content for local businesses and brands in the arts industry like Copic Art, Miya Art, Arteza Art, Meeden Art and Moft.
What I love most about teaching is being able to share the things that I have learned with others. I love helping students to learn skills, improve their techniques and confidence, and develop a quality portfolio of work. Most of all, I want to help others to be able to express themselves creatively and appreciate all the possibilities that art has to offer.
I have worked with students as young as 15 months and adult students of all ages for over 10 years as an after school art instructor in the Elk Grove and Sacramento Unified School Districts here in California as well as private studios specializing in portfolio development for adults with disabilities. I currently teach art in my privately owned studio to kids and adults and host workshops with partnering businesses.
I am a practicing artist with a focus on digital and traditional illustration and I would describe my artwork as playful, surreal and narrative. I love to tell stories with my work just as much as I love reading and learning about them. I enjoy seeing the boundless creativity that my students can have if they really work for it and believe in their own abilities. This is why I chose to help and educate others the best that I can - so that we can continue to share creativity and a love for the arts for many years to come.

In my art tutoring lessons you will be provided with support at any level you see fit. I have taught art for over 10 years to students as young as 15 months and up. I can provide early learning and developmental focused art for toddlers as well as beginner art basics for children and adults looking to learn new skills. I also offer intermediate and advanced art lessons for those looking to fine tune their skills and create a quality and cohesive body of work along with a strong portfolio for industry work in illustration, graphic design and fine art.

Ms Ruby has been teaching my girls art since they were 5 and 7 years old. They are 10 and 12 years old now and their love for art and skill set has grown so much with her classes. They are always eager to attend class each week and I see them using the techniques they learn in class in their own time when doing their own projects. I would highly recommend her art classes to anyone who loves art and crafts. Her classes are great for every skill level. I appreciate the safe , kind and fun environment she brings to her classes.
