Hi, I'm Niamh! I'm currently pursuing my PhD in Biological Sciences after completing a Bachelors and Masters in Biology too. I’m passionate about biology and love helping students reach their goals. With a strong academic background, I’m dedicated to making biology easy to understand and enjoyable. Approach to Tutoring and Teaching Methodology:
My tutoring approach is friendly, approachable, and student-centered. I strive to create a comfortable environment where students feel confident asking questions, ensuring that they fully understand the material. I believe that every student learns differently, so I adapt my teaching techniques to suit their individual needs.
I follow the school curriculum and prefer to teach in the same order as what students are learning at school. This approach helps to reinforce classroom learning and ensures that the tutoring sessions complement their ongoing studies. I combine interactive, easy-to-follow teaching strategies with regular checks for understanding, such as asking recall questions and encouraging discussion. This helps ensure that students grasp the content and can apply it effectively.
Typical Length of a Lesson:
My lessons typically last up to an hour. This length allows for a focused yet flexible session where we can cover key concepts, address any questions, and work through exercises to reinforce learning.
Qualifications/Experience:
I have a First Class Honours Bachelor's degree in Biology, a Distinction in my Master's degree in Biological Sciences, and I am currently pursuing my PhD in Biological Sciences. Over the past two years, I have tutored 16-18-year-old students in Biology, helping them achieve outstanding results, with 97% of my students achieving top grades. In addition to working with older students, I am also comfortable teaching younger students and adapting my teaching style to suit their learning needs.
